For Contrapunten Cees Andriessen asked the poet Willem van Toorn to give his view on a series of new woodcuts made by Cees by means of poetry.
The new series of poems by Willem van Toorn, called Contrapunten, is inspired on ‘Die Kunst der Fuge', an unfinished masterpiece by Johann Sebastian Bach. This special combination of art and poetry was the start of the beautiful edition Contrapunten that shows the best of both artists.
Cees Andriessen, one of the most prominent graphic artists of our country, has chosen to express himself in woodcuts, lino-cuts and drawings. His massive oeuvre, well known at home and abroad, characterizes itself by poetical power of expression next to outstanding craftsmanship. Because of his great love for poetry he chose for the collaboration with poets. Exquisite editions were published with, among others, the poets Anna Enquist and Cees Noteboom.
Special edition
100 special editions of Contrapunten have been made. They are sold in a luxurious, special designed wooden cassette. This contains, next to the book Contrapunten, a hand -printed woodcut autographed by the artist and numbered from 1/100 - 100/100. This edition costs € 195,-
